I guess the teaser trailer released for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince a few weeks back was more of a tease than we realized. The film's distributor Warner Bros. announced that it has pushed back the film's release date from its originally planned November 21 release date to July 17, 2009. The seventh book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be split into two films which are scheduled to open in November 2010 and summer 2011. (There is no truth to the rumor that the last film will be released on Daniel Radcliffe's 43rd birthday.)
Anyway, if you haven't seen the trailer yet, you can scope it out here.

That part of my soul where hope and anticipation reside just got punched in the face.
8 months is rather extreme.
well said, oblivion civilian!
With America killing off the entertainment industry in apparent stages, as they have no real use for it, it seems like a typical and expected move.
I was disappointed to see this. After Goblet of Fire, this is my favorite Harry Potter book so I was very eager to see the movie adaptation.
I am EXTREMELY dissapointed about this devastating news to say the least. The Harry Potter fans should not be toyed with in this way, we are a loyal following and we should be rewarded as such, not teased and then denied! Yay entertainment politics!-NOT.
