To this point, Locke & Key has been an amazing ride, full of all kinds of horror coolness. Now with the penultimate issue upon us, the story really gets ratcheted up, and provides an unbearable tease for what is shaping up to be an incredible last issue to the series.

Sam Lesser has finally found his way to Lovecraft, Massachusetts, murdering everyone in his path to get to the Locke family. It isn't long after his arrival that Sam begins terrorizing the family, looking for a special key. Meanwhile, Bode comes face to face with the women in the well. She gives him an unusual task to complete in order to save his family and himself from Sam's murderous rage. Will Bode be able to save his family in time? What is the mystery surrounding the woman in the well? These are just a few of the questions which will likely be answered in the final issue.

It gets extremely difficult to keep coming up with superlatives for the work Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez are doing on this series. Everything about Locke & Key just gets better and better! Hill is a tremendous natural storyteller, who already builds suspense like one of the great masters of the horror genre. Already in his short writing career, he has defined what the ghost story should be like for the new millennium. Rodriguez keeps churning out luscious art, a veritable feast of mood, darkness and copious amounts of blood. His art seems so natural for the telling of the story. Another incredible job turns this issue into a must read!

Final Grade: 89 out of 100
